Creative projects using animation and digital video.

British Council - Working abroad

Working in Cairo, Egypt with young people creating short films on indentity. These short films where made over five days and concluded with a screening at the Bitish Council in Cairo. The students learnt how to: plan, shoot their idea, then edit their footage, adding sound, music and titles. These projects gave the students the opportunity to express their views, thoughts and feelings and ultimately a voice to share their culture.

BBC Blast - Creative opportunities for 12-19 year olds.

I spent seven weeks working as a lead facilitator for BBC Blast.

My role involved running animation and digital video workshops as well as assisting other facilitators in running their own courses: photography, music and movie making with mobiles phones. I assisted with the technical side of producing news programmes, recording live bands and filming the showcases.

The links here will take you to the BBC Blast site and animations I made with students during the 2007 tour.

Creative Partnerships - Opportunities for schools

Currently working with Creative Partnerships in the Forest Of Dean taking animation and digital photography into the schools; for both teachers and students,

Giving teachers quality time to discover, as well as the students expertise to create their own projects. Below are stills from an Egyptian project Oscar did with year four. Instead of using models they worked with paper cut outs and made some short animated clips on Egyptian gods.

eTwinning - Collaboration for schools in Europe.

eTwinning is a European - wide initiative to encourage and support schools from all over Europe to work collaboratively together creating projects using ICT.

I have been working with the British Council and eTwinning in Brussels to deliver courses, workshops and presentations to teachers, students and advisors from all over the Europe. Animation has huge potential in these collaborative projects, as it allows schools to create films that cross language barriers.

Here's a link to watch a series of shorts made at the recent eTwinning conference in Nottingham. There were teachers from twenty European countries and they worked in mixed groups to create these examples.
