From Idea to Visual Pitch
At the Apple iOS Developer Academies, I developed an effective hands-on process which enabled creative teams to turn app concepts into compelling visual stories. Known as Concept Trailers, these short, sixty second videos allowed all coders, designers, and product teams to communicate the theme, vision, and excitement of their project in a concise, engaging, cinematic format.
Instead of relying solely on traditional slides, lengthy dull demos or written hand-outs, teams could show their concept, tell the story, and make the all important emotional connection with the audience in under a minute. The exercise encouraged creativity, clarity, and storytelling discipline, key skills that transfer directly to pitches, investor demos, product launches, and marketing campaigns.
A clear, engaging story will be remembered
Concept trailers help teams to:
-
Communicate the core idea quickly and memorably
-
Highlight the theme, unique value, and functionality of the app or product
-
Build alignment within the team and all stakeholders
-
Practice concise storytelling and visual thinking is the key to successful communication
Whether you’re a startup founder, a product team, or a designer looking to pitch your ideas, mastering the concept trailer format gives you a repeatable framework for compelling visual storytelling.
